Comprehensive Qualifying Examination
This written examination over the subject matter of the student's major and related fields may be taken after the student has completed all formal Departmental and University course requirements for the Ph.D. degree. Exceptions will be made only when a student has one course remaining in the Minor requirement. If the degree is not conferred within five calendar years of the comprehensive examination, it must be taken again.
Program areas are responsible for determining the content, administrative procedures, grading policies, and dates of the written examination. This information will be made available to students preparing to sit for the written examination.
